Tractor Driving Contest

1.     The Lenoir County FFA/4-H Tractor Driving Contest provides all youth an opportunity to compete and display their tractor driving and safety skills.

2.     The purpose of the contest is to promote tractor safety on and off the farm.

3.     Judges will score competitors on their ability to operate a tractor safely while attaching and backing a trailer and while moving through a pre-determined course.

4.     Trophies will be awarded to the top three tractor operators.

Category I – Students Enrolled in Home Economics or Horticulture
Category II – Adults (not open to professionals)

1.     Each contestant must furnish their own materials.

2.     Thirty (30) minutes will be allowed for completion of contest.

3.     Contestants cannot receive assistance from anyone during the contest.

4.     Arrangements will be on display until Sunday, September 21, 2008.  They must be picked up that Sunday between 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Educational Booths

Nonprofit educational groups are invited to set up educational booths which are 8' deep and 8' wide.  The booths are located in the educational exhibit building and will be assigned on a first come, first serve basis.  Call 527-2191 to reserve a space.

Diaper Derby

1.     Competitors must be between 6 and 12 months and not yet walking.

2.     Competition is open to residents of Lenoir and adjoining counties.

3.     Entry forms are available and may be obtained by calling Linda Foster at 252-523-3514.

4.     Completed forms must be received no later than 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 18, 2008.

5.     Only two adults may accompany the baby at the “Racetrack”.

6.     At no time can the parent or guardian enter the boundaries of the “Racetrack”.

7.     Babies will crawl the length of the “Racetrack” which will be 10’ x 10’.

8.     Should there not be a winner at the end of three minutes, the baby closest to the finish line will be declared the winner.

9.     Each baby is required to wear a diaper and waterproof covering.

  1. Open to all interested participants in 2 Divisions.
  2. Awards will be given in each category  
  3. Enter ˝ cake only.
  4. Place cakes or pieces on very heavy cardboard which has been covered with foil or wax paper. Cardboard should extend one inch beyond the cake on all sides.
  5. An accurate recipe must be submitted with each entry. If the recipe is not included, the entry will be disqualified. Recipes become property of the Fair and may be published.
  6. All cakes must be labeled prior to presentation to Director with the following information: category, name of cake, name of preparer, social security number, tape label and cake recipe to top of cake. Recipes may be published unless otherwise requested. Please try to put all information on one card or attached together.
  7. Entries should be presented to Director between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 16, 2008 in the Exhibit Hall.
  8. Judging will begin at 4:00 p.m.
  9. Winners will be announced following judging.

     CAKE TASTING WILL OCCUR FOLLOWING JUDGING!

  3. Please place cookies on heavy paper plate. Do not use cardboard. Put the plate into a clear plastic bag. Plastic wrap is not accepted.

  5.
