Patriotic Porch Goose Contest
Celebrate 250 Years of America!

Let your creativity fly and help the Lenoir County Agricultural Fair celebrate 250 years of American independence, history, freedom, and community!
“Let Freedom Honk!”
In celebration of the 250th Birthday of the United States of America, participants are invited to decorate a porch goose in a creative and patriotic theme. Show your American spirit with red, white, and blue, stars and stripes, military appreciation, American history, or other patriotic designs.
Official Rules & Regulations
1. Eligibility
- The contest is free to enter & open to residents, families, businesses, organizations, clubs, and community groups.
- Participants do not have to be residents of Lenoir County
- Each entry must be dropped off & registered at the Lenoir County Agricultural Fair on Saturday October 3rd, 2026 between the hours of 9am-2pm & picked up on Sunday October 11th between the hours of 12pm-2pm.
2. Entry Requirements
- Each contestant may enter one decorated porch goose.
- Contestants must provide their own goose and all decorating materials.
- The goose may be painted, dressed, accessorized, or decorated.
- The entry must clearly represent the Patriotic America 250 theme.
- Decorations should be securely attached and suitable for display.
3. For safety and appropriateness, entries may not contain:
- Real weapons or ammunition
- Fireworks or explosives
- Hazardous materials
- Political campaign materials or partisan political messaging
- Offensive, vulgar, discriminatory, or inappropriate language or imagery
- Anything that may damage property or create a safety hazard
4. Entries will be judged by an impartial panel selected by the Lenoir County Agricultural Fair & will be based on the following:
-Patriotic Theme & America 250 Connection- 25 points
-Creativity & Originality- 25 points
-Overall Appearance- 20 points
-Craftsmanship & Detail- 15 points
-Use of Materials & Accessories- 10 points
-Presentation- 5 points
-Total-100 points
5. The following awards will be given:
-1st place $100
-2nd place $75
-3rd place $50
- Most creative name $25
6. Display
- Entries must be dropped off at the Lenoir County Fair on Saturday October 3rd between the hours of 9am-2pm & picked up on Sunday October 11th between the hours of 12pm-2pm.
- Contestants are responsible for transporting their goose to and from the Fair.
- Entries will be displayed during the Lenoir County Fair October 6-10, 2026.
- The Fair will take reasonable precautions to protect entries but is not responsible for damage, theft, or loss.
7. The Lenoir County Agricultural Fair reserves the right to:
- Reject any entry that does not meet the contest rules.
- Disqualify an entry for inappropriate content or failure to follow the rules.
- Make the final determination regarding judging and awards.
- Modify contest procedures when necessary to ensure a fair and safe competition.
8. Acceptance of Rules
By entering the Porch Goose Contest, participants agree to follow all contest rules and regulations and accept the decisions of the Lenoir County Agricultural Fair and its designated judges.
